Welcome To Tasty Thursdays

tasty thursdays logoEveryone has a New Year's resolution. For the past two years, mine has been to start a baking blog. And for the past two years, my resolution has fallen on deaf ears.

Not this year.

This year, I'm following through.

It helped that I started Tasty Thursdays on Drugstore Divas. In case you're unfamiliar with Drugstore Divas, it's the deals and savings blog I founded in January 2009. We have weekly columns, including a food column called Tasty Thursdays. It usually focuses on my boyfriend Pete's recipes. That gave us a foray into the food blogging world. This new blog, Tasty Thursdays, is the next step out. It's also a way for me to showcase my baking skills.

I love to bake, although sometimes I do create delicious disasters. That's okay. It's also okay when I overbake things. What's not okay is hiding that talent and not sharing it. So Tasty Thursdays is a way for me to share that -- but it's also a way for me to step out of my comfort zone, to try something new an unfamiliar, and to take my love of baking and Pete's love of cooking, and bring it to a new place.

We'll be posting on Tasty Thursdays every Thursday. So I hope you'll join us on this adventure.

  4. Lisa! Congrats. This is very exciting news! I am hoping that you dive into some alternative baking as well. I have "been off" white sugar and white flour for over a year now, and I tell you, its kinda hard to find alternatives! I scour websites for ingredients like agave nectar, or dates as sweeteners, or buckwheat, whole grain or spelt flour!

Either way, I'm subscribed and will be following you along!

  5. Thanks Maria!

Thanks Melanie! I did a post on Drugstore Divas where I made bread from Soft White Winter Wheat whole grain. I actually had to grind the grain down to use it as flour. http://www.drugstoredivas.net/2011/12/holiday-gift-guide-giveaway-tropical.html It worked pretty well [[and would have been better if I had an actual grinder, not the one Pete uses for coffee beans, but you gotta start somewhere ... ]]. SO glad you're following =] Maybe you can get some recipes one day!
